This is the landing.

The moment of readiness and intense anticipation right before you face something, face me, face yourself, face the world, face an enemy, face a loved one, face the lie, face the truth, face possible success, face inevitable failure, face our shadows, face our light.

When all of this happens simultaneously, some say, only a hint of some kind of extra terrestrial beautiful madness survives the end of that world.

This piece is that madness, that beauty…this world.

The purpose of this piece about portraying the experience of finding one's self. It depicts my personal journey from the outside world to the inside self; Iseejanemary's journey from IFEEL to ISEE are the aftermath of the murder of the God outside in order to find the God inside. The implosion.

‘GOD IS DEAD’ mixed media piece moet weg bij Bijbels Museum

Het Bijbels Museum was verontwaardigd over onze expositie bij de officiële opening en heeft ons uiteindelijk de deur uitgewezen. Aanleiding hiervoor was dat de directrice niet te spreken was over de titel van het kunstwerk: ‘GOD IS DEAD’.

Terwijl de eerste gasten onze expositieruimte aan het bekijken waren, werd de opdracht gegeven om de gasten uit de zaal te ruimen en het kunstwerk op te doeken. De titel van het kunstwerk zou ‘aanstootgegevend‘ zijn volgens directrice Judiekje Kiers. De bezoekers moesten hiervoor worden behoed, zegt de directrice.

“Ik kreeg de optie om de titel te veranderen, de begeleidende tekst te nuanceren of een begeleidende tekst van de directrice voor te laten gaan aan mijn eigen tekst en dat heb ik geweigerd”, zegt Jowy Maasdamme (ISEEJANEMARY), de illustrator achter het betreffend werk. “De titel GOD IS DEAD is een essentieel deel van het werk. Het geeft aan hoe ik mij voel. Als het aangepast zou worden, lever ik half werk in”, aldus Maasdamme. “De keuzes die ik heb gemaakt, zijn bewust gedaan. Dus ook voor de titel van dit werk.”

De directrice zou de mixed media piece niet hebben gezien, voordat zij het besluit heeft genomen om de expositie te stoppen. Zij heeft tijdens de ophef aan de kunstenaars de opdracht gegeven om alsnog beeldmateriaal van het kunstwerk met hun mobiele telefoons te versturen. Alles moest via de telefoon, zij heeft zelf niks gezien. “ Eigenlijk behoort zij de kunst te bewaken en dat heeft zij als directrice niet gedaan”, zegt Diantha Rodrigues Pereira (Olga Feather), de visual artist achter het werk. De kunstenaars zeggen er alles aan te doen om zo spoedig mogelijk een nieuwe locatie te vinden waar het werk geëxposeerd zou kunnen worden.

Gijs Stork en Manon Schaap van Wintersalon/2012 worden hartelijk bedankt voor de mooie locatie en kans. Het was een mooie opening en bezoekers genoten duidelijk van de zeer ‘intruiging’ werk van de deelnemers van deze editie van Wintersalon. De nieuwe datum, tijd en locatie zullen tijdig bekend worden gemaakt. Mis het dus zeker niet en kom langs!

First off I have to tell you how stoked I am that my soulmates made this piece come alive with me and helped me awaken the spirit of Iseejanemary even more. Here's a big shout out to you magical creatures, you are truly amazing! Jennifer Maasdamme, Mama & Papa, Tariq Nahar, Diantha Rodrigues Pereira & Raul Maduro. The mixed media piece GOD IS DEAD. I KILLED HIM & I'M GLAD, is about portraying the experience of finding one's self. A phenomenon that no human can escape but all 'forget'. The purpose of the piece is to depict the artist's personal journeys from 'The outside world' to 'The inside self' by using JANEMARY (Illustrator Jowy Maasdamme's brain child) as a personal guinea pig. The artist's journey & JANEMARY's journey from ISEE to IFEEL are the aftermath of the murder of the God outside. The implosion. The added video art as well as the sound design are aimed at illustrating JANEMARY's universe. In this self designed reality she searches & collects her pieces to get back to her true essence.
